I realise I haven’t been writing a lot. I’m sure all of my avid readers (ahem) are sorely upset about this. Sorry!
So what’s been going on?!
Quite a lot, actually.
- I started Spanish school! I have no idea why I didn’t do it sooner. Well, I do. I was adamant I could pick it up like I did French in Lyon but nope. I had, admittedly, looked into lessons before but had decided against it due to cost (and The Mexican not believing in paying for a language… easy to say when you’re a polyglot). Despite the substantial financial investment, this is easily the best thing I’ve done since I got here. I’m still not conversing with my resident Mexicano but I think that’ll come soon enough. The school is family ran and puts on free cooking and salsa classes every Friday!
2. I got a new bike bitches! Alright, it took me a month and I only went for it because The Mexican forced me to. I’m on a tight budget this time so hunted down the cheapest I could find. The one I settled on is the bare bones of a bike. it doesn’t have a basket (sigh) and I didn’t even think it had brakes until I realised peddling backwards slows me down (who knew? not me). I DID treat myself to a bell so I didn’t have to scream ‘PERMISSO’ at people all the time. The bell lasted 2 days before someone stole it. I’m over it.
3. Work, work, work, work, work, work. If I have to tell you to say that in Rihanna’s voice then we can’t be friends. But yeah, work has been picking up slowly. Still not as much as I’d like, but I am impatient. As amazing as it would be, I don’t think writing alone is enough. I dream of a future where I can buy new clothes on a semi-frequent basis. After not getting anywhere with European online teaching schools, I have finally given in to the possibility that I may need to join the legions of online teachers waking up at 4 am every day to teach Chinese children. The things I will do for bikinis… On the flip side, The Mexican is doing amazing! Which in equal parts makes me super proud and makes me want to give myself a kick up the bum!
Last But Not least-
The parents come to town! When they first decided they wanted to come over and visit I wasn’t even sure if I’d still be here come April. 12 weeks later and we’re going strong!
